History of Grooves
Italian company, in harmony with time, love for nature and passion for skiing.
Peter Huta
artisan
Peter Huta is a Bohemian craftsman, who produces truly made-to-measure skis in his workshop in Calliano in Trentino. Peter begins his career as a model maker, he falls in love with Trentino in 1988 when he arrives there to surf on Lake Garda. He hasn’t gone away since.
After launching himself into the handicraft production of surf fins, Peter gets to know the world of skiing thanks to the Roy company which
made snowboards. After the experience gained in Roy and years of study and personal design, Peter collaborates in the construction of the board that will win the slalom gold medal at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, confirming his talent as a designer.
Peter thus decides to create his own laboratory moving permanently to Italy in Calliano.
Thus the small company Grooves was born, specialized in the production of snowboards and skis. Peter considers himself a true craftsman because he builds skis and snowboards manually without the use of molds and exclusively tailored for his customers.
The challenge of the little “Grooves” to the snow giants is unequal, but fascinating.
It has the flavor of the old trades of the past enriched however by the best technology that the market offers today and supported by solid biodynamic studies.
Grooves has therefore always been committed to the study of materials and the solution to the structural problems of skiing, to guarantee a final product that meets the needs of its customers.
